I think many people would call Peru “life-changing” – mostly for the fact that you can see, meet and experience things that are once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. In our case “life-changing” was quite literal – it was Peru that we ended up settling down in for over two years. Shopping in local markets became the norm, our Spanish became much more fluent, and the country became our home. I picked up a job as a Tour Leader for Tucan Travel in South America – leading tourists from Quito to Rio de Janeiro and back; Aaron picked up a job in Tucan’s office in Cusco – and our lives were inextricably altered and enhanced by our time spent amongst Peru’s stunning scenery, venerable cultures, and time-honored traditions.
