El Salvador rarely makes the list of Top 20 Things to do in Central America – and maybe that was its appeal. The country had beautiful beaches – but not world-class beaches; stunning waterfalls – but they were hard to get to and out of the way; interesting ruins – that no one had heard of; and delicious food – okay, everyone should know about their food. What it lacks in headlines, it makes up for in remoteness, friendly locals, and undisturbed beauty.
