Headlines do not do China any favors. While an economic and population super-power finds its way into the news nearly every day, the quick hits don’t do the country justice. China is the third largest country in the world – and it spans over 3.5 million square miles of mountains, rivers, ancient structures and clashing cultures. It’s easy to be turned off by the big cities and foreign manners (I’ll never get used to spitting loogies everywhere), but the smaller towns, epic hikes, cobble stoned streets lined with red lanterns, and great outdoors are a completely different experience that would appeal to any traveler.
